FRIDAY FAVORITES....HALLOWEEN EDITION

Ahh and just like that October is over and it's Halloween. You know what's gonna happen this weekend? Yep, that's right, Christmas commercials and the stores filled to the brim with Christmas decor!! My Sirius radio on Holiday Music. Poor Thanksgiving really gets the snub sometimes. If your state participates in the ever so goofy daylight savings time, then you can rejoice that on Saturday night we set our clocks back an hour and relish in a extra hour of sleep time on Sunday morn.

1. Sectional Play
Super excited. While the game is being played tonight on Halloween eve, it's probably is the most exciting thing about the week. Our #9 is in round two with his team in Sectional Play and playing a Huge rival tonight. Wish us luck!!

2. TP-ing and other SHENANIGANS
Come on, you ghoulish lil devils, admit it, you've either gathered 20 rolls and TP-ed the heck out of someone's yard or your house has been TP-ed. I used to feel so guilty if I TP-ed someone's house and then it rained. What a mess. But throwing those rolls (The cheap stuff of course) over a friends giant trees was exhilarating. What Halloween Shenanigans did you participate in?

3. HALLOWEEN COCKTAILS
Yummy, gorgeous looking and delightfully good!!

4. PUMPKIN DECORATING
Of course when the cutie pie trick-or-treater's come calling, my carved pumpkins need to be lit. Oh wait, no one wanted to carve this year, boo hoo. Looks like mama needs to get out the old carving knife and do it myself. lol. I do love, not only a good carved pumpkin, but a decorated one too!!  When I was in 3rd grade I got first place with my KISS pumpkins.

WHAT'S THAT PRINT? and WITCH BOOTS

I got this skirt from the Loft and I love it! However I've asked myself on numerous occasions, what print is this? Is it Dalmatian? Is it Leopard? Is it Cow? Is it abstract?

Well regardless, I get a lot of compliments on my "what is it?" Skirt.

Please excuse the round sunny glow, camera and sun issue but I just keep telling myself it casts an angelic glow. Bah ha ha!!

I got the Chinese Laundry boots a couple years ago and I don't wear them a lot but I like to in October because I call them my witch boots. They are kind of pointy, yet comfortable, but they just look like they should go with a witch outfit.

Cardi and black shells are also from The Loft. Necklace from Kohl's.

Back to the Witch boot thing. Um, who else was terrified by the Wizard of Oz Wicked Witch??? I could not watch that movie without nightmares!!

Here's the SUPER odd thing, despite my OZ Witch fear, I ALWAYS begged my mom to be a Witch for Halloween. Easy costume for her.
That's me in the middle not smiling, thinking I'm scary

Now, by the musical Wicked, I was better at watching her green face and that Musical is a true favorite of mine but something about the original Oz Witch scares the bageebies out of me!!

Just look at her!!

PUMPKIN DROP COOKIES with CARAMEL FROSTING

Happy Tuesday. I swore I was not going to do another pumpkin recipe but it IS Halloween week and this does happen to be my personal favorite Pumpkin recipe of ALL time. Yes, all time!! Yum

I made these last Friday and it was not until I had them frosted that I decided another pumpkin recipe post was indeed needed and trust me if you love pumpkin, you will LOVE these cookies. So soft, and the caramel frosting sets up just right for the perfect compliment to the subtle pumpkin drop cookie.

I am not a fan of pumpkin pie so I usually bring Sweet Potato Casserole or
my Pumpkin Sheet Cake or best of all, these yummy cookies for a quick grab after (or before) Thanksgiving dinner!

PUMPKIN DROP COOKIES with CARAMEL FROSTING

INGREDIENTS
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour

FROSTING
4 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons heavy cream
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla and mix well. Stir in pumpkin.
In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.  Add to pumpkin mixture and mix well.
Drop by heaping tablespoons onto a lightly greased cookie sheet and flatten slightly. Bake for 11-12 minutes.

Transfer to parchment paper
To make frosting: In a medium saucepan, combine butter, cream, and brown sugar over medium heat.
Cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture just begins to boil; remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Then, mix in powdered sugar and mix on medium speed til smooth. Spread frosting over cookies quickly as it hardens up .

Enjoy, my pumpkin loving friends!!
These would be great to munch on while passing out Halloween candy on Saturday.
