FRIDAY FAVORITES...VACATION EDITION

Happy Friday my sweet friends! Wow, this week has gone fast and has been packed full! Why is it that the week back from vacation is just a little bit crazier? So anyway, the plan is to maybe get a little rest in this weekend but there are still all those pots to be planted! And I spoke too soon about Spring being here to stay in Indiana, within 48 hours, Mother Nature has decided to forecast SNOW for tomorrow! What the???? Let’s just get to the favorites, lots of good ones.

1. Airport/Plane Craziness / IGUANA Story
You guys, we were blessed to of made it to the Cayman Islands, but we sure did have crazy airport shenanigans to and from. First of all, I got pat down because of the underwear I was wearing had a spanks like lining. And I was wearing a dress! Then, when we boarded our connecting flight, they had boarded the entire plane which half of them, mind you, had tried to get out on Saturday and couldn’t because of weather. After sitting on the tarmac for an hour, they announced that there was no Captain to fly the plane and were going to deplane us. American Airlines was even replying to my frustrated tweets. Luckily within about 15 or 20 minutes it was Captain Larry to the rescue who was on his way to save the day! And they gave me extra Bailey’s!

Flying out, I got pat down for the same issue. Thank you Chantelle underwear! But I was also chosen for the random security check, which meant they took everything out of my two carry-ons, did the wand search for bomb residue and I was the one who had to put everything back in. Then, they called my name and had to do a search of the checked bag. Must’ve been my high bun, it scared them! We almost missed our connecting flight but thank goodness made it home.

IGUANA
Another favorite story was the Iguana story. The iguanas aren’t like the little gecko lizards, they are big. Mind you, we only saw two and they were kind of cool but this one scared a guy I have to death and I would have died!

See this bag right here in the photo below? Well, about five minutes after I took this picture a young guy laid down on his stomach and went to sleep not knowing the iguana was close by. The iguana climbed up on the bag and onto the guy scaring the absolute crap out of him. I wish I would’ve got the whole thing on video as his mom did and should’ve asked her for a copy of it. Priceless!

2. Pretty You London Slippers
I know many of you fell in love with my Pretty You London slippers A few weeks ago, so how excited was I to get a pair of their sandals to take on our trip. They have some of the cutest sandals I have ever seen, and these black tassel slides were the ultimate! The base is an espadrille and the tassels are so cute and full and I got so many compliments on these sandals! Hop over there and check out their adorable collection!

3. Greenhouses with Mom
So, as I’ve told you often before, my mom and I have a tradition of going to several greenhouses every spring and picking out all our flowers. You may have seen my Instagram story about how she is a master gardener with some of the most beautiful flowers in the county. I always love her advice and we pretty much have the same taste in flowers. Yes, it means lots of watering but it’s so worth it for all the beauty that the posies bring every year! And I always get super happy to drive Mr. Nine‘s Ford Raptor truck!

4. Paper Bag Shorts
I was not sure I would love the paper bag shorts and pants trend, but this outfit changed all that! It is so comfortable and so flattering. Both these pieces came from JCPenney and I absolutely love them. My mom loved the top so much, she got it in pink. What about you, do you like the paper bag trend?

5. Causebox from Chrissy &
Pineapple Love from Nadine
My Awesome and dear friend Chrissy from Granola and Grace gifted me with the most amazing gift this week! It was my first causebox and boy is it a good one! Not sure if you’re familiar with CauseBox but all the products inside are so well-made, developed and created by women! They are environmentally friendly, often with proceeds towards a cause and many made with women’s bare hands. I’m all about women’s empowerment and I was tickled pink to get this box for my precious precious friend! If you have not checked out her blog, it is a must! Chrissy and I share a passion for our environment and lifting up other women!

Make sure to follow her Instagram too!!

I have been so blessed to know Nadine of Life By Nadine Lynn for about the entire time I’ve been blogging. She is funny, she is sassy, she is smart and such a great writer! She has the most darling little girl who was born on our oldest son’s birthday and I just love all the Zoe shenanigans! Make sure you check her out. Nadine decided we are just going to go ahead and celebrate my birthday all month and sent me all this goodness that I received in the mail yesterday! Talk about a sweetheart!

  4. Ugh you never know what to expect at the airport anymore but I'm glad it all worked out. That is so crazy about the iguana! I remember when we were in Curacao and A was trying to catch one, and actually touched one, at three years old. This kid is too fearless with reptiles. I love your vacation outfit and I'm slowly enjoying the paperbag pants trend too. Such sweet friends to both send you such thoughtful things! I hope you have a great weekend! Your house is going to look amazing with all those ferns and flowers! Have a wonderful weekend - and you've got to love the midwest weather. Hopefully no snow!

  25. OH no! We have had "problems" with airport security too a few times and honestly it has made my anxiety over air travel so much worse on subsequent trips. Thank goodness you made it on time there and back.

  26. Oh my goodness the Iguana story has me rolling on the ground laughing ! I would have seriously had a heart attack if that thing would have gotten close to me !! Loved seeing your photos from your vacation. Happy Friday !

  27. That's a lot of goodness in your life. I could just picture the iguana incident. I was even half chuckling to myself. Also, you do have lovely friends and I adore Chrissy but haven't met Nadiane yet . I think I'll hop on over.

  28. I was pulled out when we were flying home from Texas because I was wearing Harrison and they had to check my hands??? I still don't understand why my hands. Then they took everything out of the diaper bag and had to check the formula, wipes, everything. Laughing at the iguana story! That would have scared me to death!

  31. I have never seen those small bottles of Baileys! Love it! Yes it is a lot of hassle on airports!

  32. I'm so glad you had a great trip minus the TSA stuff--don't get me started! Your mom's talent sounds amazing, I'm so not a gardener of any kind, so I really appreciate those people who are.

  33. I LOVE the paper bag trend and even bought them in pants for the office. I haven't worn them yet, but maybe you saw them because I got them at Penny's. They're multi-colored and oh-so cute! I would have been a nervous wreck with that iguana! Good Lord! Looks like you're having a fabulous weekend as you should! Love ya!

  34. That is a crazy airport experience!

  35. OMG how horrible to have been the 'target' at the airport like that! I often get patted down too – but I don't mind. I like to see that they're doing their jobs lol!!!
I love the paperbag shorts on other people but find they add too much bulk to my hips and waist :(
They look FABULOUS on you, Andrea <3

  36. I hate when my stuff needs to be searched at the airport. I had to get a pat down because I had a hair elastic in my pocket once. And last time I was carrying food items. I asked if I should take them out of my bag and they said no, just put them in the bin so they can see them. But in order to do that, I had to take them out of the bag. Then the lady got mad at me for arguing and I was like no, I'm clarifying!

  37. We have been to Aruba several times and the Iguanas there are huge and not afraid to climb up on your pool table to eat your food. It's crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  38. So much goodness in one post! That iguana story sounds HILARIOUS!! I wish I could have been there to see it!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh my gosh, flying already makes me anxious! I would have been a basketcase with all that stuff happening! I probably would have told B to forfeit the trip because it was a bad sign. Lol. I'm so glad everything ended up working out!

  40. Bless your heart. That pic of you waiting for your bags is priceless. Ah for the good ol' days of just going to the airport and getting on a plane without all the security measures. Okay, that iguana. Holy crap! I'd have totally been on top of a table and if one would have crawled on me...I would have totally freaked. You and your precious mama look so cute shopping for all your flowers. What a great week you had. XO

  41. I hate flying. It is so stressful and so many times you get searched in my opinion for no reason. Anyways glad you made all your flights!

  42. Can't say I'm a fan of the paper bag look on me. That iguana story is too funny! I think they're cool to look at but I would've crapped myself if it would've got on top of me.

  43. oh goodness being patted down at the airport is never fun but the worst is the whole flight debacle with no captain. What on earth? i hope the rest of the trio was a breeze in paradise. Love the outfits in this post and so funny about the iguana, I guess they are the friendly sort (usually very timid) but that would scare the living life out of me too. LOL.

  44. What an adventure! lol, I have now been warned about underwear and airport scanners and feel like I will be paranoid now every time! Lol...how awful. Glad you had a lot of other wonderful things to celebrate to balance out that one big ordeal!
