FRIED CAPRESE BALLS

I have professed my love for fried cheese on the blog before but I'm also here to tell you that caprese salad is my favorite summer side of all time! That yummy mozzarella, basil and fresh tomatoes have the best taste of summer in salad form that I have ever tasted. What if I combined the two in fried form? Can I get a big "YES" to my Fried Caprese Balls? Oh my goodness, these were so fun and turned out so crispy with the soft melty cheese inside and burst of flavor in the middle. The great thing about these is you can make as few or as many as you want.
Yum

What You'll Need

FRIED CAPRESE BALLS
Ingredients
Fresh Mozzarella balls (I made 4 this batch but you could make as many as you like)
1 can Bruschetta tomatoes or fresh baby tomatoes, cut up
Basic Leaves, 1 for each moz ball
olive oil
1 egg
Italian bread crumbs
A little flour

Directions
Arrange all your goodies on the counter. Flour, egg and Italian bread crumbs each in their own pans for rolling the cheese in. Start heating the oil in a medium saucepan, the oil filling about half of the pot. Cut off the top 3rd of each ball and scoop out some of the inside. In each ball, add a basil leaf and some tomatoes. Put the cut piece of cheese back on top and seal them all with a toothpick. Roll each ball in flour, then brush with egg, then roll in the breadcrumbs and slowly dunk a couple in the hot oil. Fry until golden crisp, about 7-9 minutes and drain on paper towels. Eat right away to enjoy the hot, melty cheese goodness!

HAPPY TASTY TUESDAY!!!

  19. Ok, I need this right now! Caprese salad is by far my favorite salad and never miss a chance to order it out at a restaurant. But a fried cheese ball with the tomatoes and basil...I'm so in! It reminds me of fried mozzarella cheese sticks growing up! Pinning this one, Andrea. It looks amazing!
