3 THINGS...THIS IS US EDITION

I am missing This Is Us! Don’t get me wrong, I love the Olympics but I get so excited for a Tuesday night cry fest. Who doesn’t need a good cry? The last 2 episodes had me crying the entire time! For those of you that aren’t into this show, this post may not mean much. However, for the 40 million that are, this show speaks to our hearts! #jackpearsonforever

Why? Why do we love this show so much? Is it because it is a program about happiness, family and good people? With much of what we see on television these days being about science fiction, crime dramas, or bad things, this show tells the story about a family who came together by chance, and yet it was meant to be. You know the kind of show that we "used to watch." The kind of show that is so rare to find these days.

According to Kristin Wynns, a clinical psychologist from North Carolina,

"It is a refreshing reminder that for most of us, we have dysfunctional families, if not permanently, at least for a season. But even in the midst of dysfunction, there is love and growth."

Each episode gives us a deeper understanding of this family and the ties that bind them. It gives us meaning behind the universal truths regarding human relationships. As Kevin said to his nieces about his painting, “Life is full of color and we each get to come along and we add our own color to the painting”. All I can say is thank God for Doctor Katowski for bringing this incredible family together.

In Honor of Kevin, Kate and Randall being called, “BIG THREE,” I thought it would be fun to do one of those "3 Things" Posts surrounding this show! If you’re a fan, feel free to play along and do this “This Is Us” 3 Things for your own. Feb. 27th can’t come fast enough for the next episode.

  2. I am missing This is Us too. I wish they would move it to 9 though, as it really messes with Little Dude's bedtime routine on Tuesdays! It is so sweet and a tear jerker for sure. It's nice to have that mid-week emotional catharsis, the Olympics just don't provide the same level of emotion!

  3. I'm still catching up on This Is Us. I love Everyone Loves Raymond and M&Ms are my favorite candy of all time. Have a wonderful Sunday, Andrea.

  7. I just love this post girlfriend and I hope you don't mind if I "borrow" it in the future! Loved how you took a beloved TV show and "flipped it" into a blog post!! I love this show, too, although I STILL HAVE NOT watched the last two episodes! Gotta get myself psyched up for them! Have a wonderful Monday, Girl!!

  8. Oh, I love This Is Us so much!!! I remember when they were really advertising the show big time, so I told Dustin, "Hey, let's watch this new show!" And it wasn't until the end of the pilot episode that I realized that the modern day adults were all the kids and they adopted Randall and I lost it!! Oh, the sweetest show about family!!

  12. Great post! And amen to grabbing those scrapbooks in a fire! I'm so grateful we save lots of scrapbooks and photos and put them up high. We also grabbed my purse, important documents box, and family heirloom jewelry when we evacuated. Everything else can be replaced! And yes to M&Ms for the movie snack!!

  14. This is such a fun post. I need to figure out how I can watch This Is Us (like, is it on Netflix, on regular TV? where do I find it?). I've been hearing so much about it. It sounds like a show I'd love!! I had to laugh when you said for #3, this is all I need (scrapbooks and purse). Gosh, I love all kinds of TV watching snacks. Sometimes I'll take the kids to Walgreens to get some movie snacks and drinks and we'll watch a couple movies at home. Always such a fun time! But, dang those snacks add up sometimes!

  16. I just love This is Us and pretty much cry every single episode. I actually haven't watched the two most recent ones. I keep putting it off because I know it is going to be a sob fest and I am not ready for it. We have been watching The Resident and 911. Both just started a few weeks ago. You need to get on board those!!

  17. YOU.ARE.A.GENIUS! This should have been a link up! Shhh, don't tell....but we don't even really give 2 hoots about the Olympics. Bring back our fav shows!!! Happy Monday!!! Love ya!

  22. Oh Andrea, I'm not familiar with any of this part for I Love Lucy ... yeah, definitely showing my age! But with you on the photo albums and the purse/incl passport, though I would use no. 3 to add "medication" - yeah, showing the age again! Hugs and have a nice tear-free week, x.

  23. We have yet to watch This is Us... for some reason my husband and I never seem to watch shows when they're trendy (we just started watching Grey's Anatomy last night). We do however LOVE the Goldbergs and the Middle and just started watching Fresh off the Boat (which my boys find even more funny than The Middle or the Goldbergs).

  24. Well, it took me about 5 episodes to ever get the show figured out but once I got it, I have enjoyed it. Not a huge favorite but I will see it through to the end for sure. My daughter keeps telling me I need to watch Parenthood on Netflix. Happy week dearie!

  30. You've almost convinced me to watch This Is Us. I've avoided it because there have been so many emotional events in my life lately, I wasn't sure I could handle it. But maybe it would be cathartic! Thanks again for saving me today ;).

  31. I watched This Is Us for the first season, as well as my daughters. We all stopped at the same time--it was just too sad!!! Still, I sometimes think of catching up.

Favorite show--Housewives of Beverly Hills. A girl can dream, right?

    Great post!

  32. I still haven't watched This Is Us. I could do with it on Netflix really (unfortunately, Netflix Portugal doesn't show the same amount of shows that it does in the US!). It's on cable but I've missed the first series and don't want to start it in the middle.
Some of my favourite sitcoms that we used to watch when we were kids here in Portugal were ALF, All In The Family, Family Ties – a strange combination, I know. But Portugal had limited English speaking TV at that point!
I talked about you on my blog post yesterday, Andrea! I 'borrowed' one of your photos too – one which really inspired me. Huge hugs my friend.

  38. I do like This Is Us and that's coming from someone who doesn't watch a lot of TV. One day my hubby just put it on and my eyes were literally glued to the screen. I don't watch TV by myself so since hubby has been working long hours as these past month, I have missed many episodes. We will have to do a TV series marathon perhaps...

But I love it, you're right, everyone needs a good cry :) I would grab scrapbooks too, because everything I have scrapbooked I don't have any digital copies of.
