FRIDAY FAVORITES.....THERE GOES FEBRUARY

I really should title this The February Floods for the Record Books Edition. You guys, we have been in a state of emergency the past several days. As you may know about a 1/2 acre behind our new house is a river and across the street, a large pond with the river winding behind that. Watching it all rise has had us in panic. It made the National News. Schools have been closed, roads closed, people rescued. Luckily our builder was smart and had truck load after truck load of dirt brought in to build us up on a hill. Never in our wildest dreams would we think it’d get close until this week when mother nature broke all records. Just look at this:
The path our builders made for us down to the river has been washed away. Darn it. And on top of it all, I caught Mr. Nine’s cold and feel like crap but nothing a cozy blankie, hot tea and Netflix can’t make betta! Now, you all stay healthy, stay dry and rejoice that the water crested last night!

1. College Visit
Had a ball with this boy and just when I had a hankering for sushi, that is exactly where they wanted to go...a sushi restaurant! Soooo good!

And just look at this lil guy, His roommate got a pet Guinea Pig and our son named him: Fredrick. He sure does get fed nice salads.

2. Office Chair
I searched high and low for an office chair and was tickled pink to find this one at Marshalls. With lots of pink in the office area, I didn’t want to go that route so the gold nail edge trim adds the perfect feminine touch. One problem, I have gone through a half bottle of Febreze as this chair stinks but it’s getting better thank goodness.

3. Week's Attire
A couple more work leftovers...

The Loft scarf, Target top, TJ Maxx cardigan

TJ Maxx Dress, necklace, Still a fav from my Laura

4. Cherry Red & Gingham
This is the fun outfit I wore down to Bloomington. Cannot go wrong with a great gingham shirt and I LOVE the cherry red color and softness of this bell sleeve sweater. Boots are Coconuts by Matisse that I found under the bed while moving and love.

This stuff is the bomb. It is so rich in antioxidants and you only need a ¼ to ½ teaspoon. I’m making hot tea, smoothies, energy balls and maybe even muffins with it. It’s sooo good!

  9. I've been praying for y'all, Andrea, and I'm so glad to hear that the water has crested. Hopefully these are some early "spring showers" and the rest of March - May will be beautiful in your neck of the woods. Love the outfit you pulled together for your college visit and I will NOT be showing Alise the pic of your son's roommate's new friend, because she's been wanting a Guinea Pig, too. (Insert eye roll!) Love to you and wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  21. Oh man, that is scary with all the flooding! Glad your builder thought better and raised the area your house sits. Your office chair is so cute!!! That is totally something I would have picked for myself. Strange it stinks, maybe the fabric dye? I am sure it will chill over time. That outfit you wore for sushi with the boys is so cute! I never did turn down a sushi date! Hope you have a great weekend!

  22. I love that red sweater outfit! I find the cutest things at Marshalls, that chair is awesome

  23. I'm so sorry you had all that flooding, and I'm sure it gave you a scare! And sorry that you caught a cold...hope it doesn't slow you down for long! I love your office chair. I have read so many reviews of both upholstered and wood furniture that gives off an odor for days after purchase. It makes you wonder about those chemicals! Hope you feel better.

  24. Oh my goodness I know how scary it is to watch the water rise around your house! Thank goodness it’s all crested though and hopefully the rain will stop! I’m glad that you had a great time visiting your son, and sushi really is the best! Have a great weekend!

  26. I am so glad the water didn't make it to your house! That is so scary and I would have been panicking too. I have been saying all week that I've wanted sushi so I'm hoping we can make that happen. What a cute little guinea pig. We used to have two when we were growing up. I hope you feel better! Stay cozy and enjoy some relaxing! Sierra~Beautifully Candid

  27. Oh my goodness friend - stay safe! Flooding is so scary. I'm in love with your red sweater outfit, and I was laughing that you found the boots under the bed. Sounds like me. Have a great weekend, stay dry, and feel better!

  28. That chair...swoon. I love it. Please stay safe. I can't believe all the flooding going on. Sushi and a college visit sound like a lot of fun. I hope you have the best weekend!

  29. So sorry to hear you've been going through all of that. Will be praying. Feel better soon.

  30. If only you could divert all that rain over here...we are way behind...AGAIN. Things aren't nearly as green as they were last year and that makes me sad. I love it when the hills are green. Thank goodness your builder had the good sense to build y'all up. That's just crazy. Your red and gingham are a match made in heaven. Love the new chair. Look for a product (I know Walmart has carried it in the past) called Odo-ban. My mom uses it and I've used it too. It's a neutralizer and might take care of the weird smell. Have the best weekend cutie pie! XO

  35. I love the office chair and I'm kind of sad for you that it stinks... hopefully that will dissipate for good soon. We have really high lakes and river totals right now too but thankfully nothing that is coming close enough to the house to have to worry about. Thank goodness you had a really smart and thorough builder!

  36. We had a lot of flooding here too. There are a lot of streets that were closed because of the flooding.
I love the look of the red sweater with a gingham shirt under it. I really love gingham.

  38. So glad that you didn't have any damage to your home. Our dock is no longer visible. Crazy weather.

Love sushi, love your outfits (as always--red is your color!). And the chair! Score! It's always cool to walk into one of those stores and see the perfect piece with the perfect price. I found a chair, a Louis IV, and scooped it up for my hubby's office. Then I fell in love with it and stole it for myself!!

    Happy Weekend!

  41. Wow, that is some serious flooding! I'm in McKinney Texas right now visiting with Alana and her family. I saw on the news that some areas of Dallas had issued flood warnings. Glad you're okay and no damage to your home. Love the chair! I mix vodka and lemon essential oil in a spray bottle for a room and fabric deodorizer. Great picture of you and your son! Alana and Chris will join the ranks of college parents when Chase goes to uni this fall. He just signed his papers to play soccer. Have a good weekend...stay dry...hope your cold is better... xoxo

  44. That office chair is just so cute!! I def. love your interior design taste! I hope you are feeling better. That guinea pig is so cute, I've always wanted one... but, my kids both have their own hamster. Flooding is so scary, even if you know you're up high and safe. We have flooding around our house sometimes and 2 years ago it was so bad it took me 3.5 hours in the car to get home during the kids Christmas break... we had just went to a bowling alley 15 minutes away! What a mess that was... I wish we had stayed in that day! It was the first time we had ever had flooding in this area (I have lived here since 2003 and it flooded super bad in 2016!). It's flooded one more time since then, but not as bad. They've built some new levee's, etc. and I think it's putting more water down our way! :( Thankfully, we're super high up... it's the roads that get to be a mess when they flood!
