HOW TO DO A CUBS GAME

Let’s Go Cubbies! And a big “W” they got with a 10-6 win over the Reds. Baseball games aren’t always exciting but this was a thriller. Being so close to Chicago, we have always been Cubs fans but it’d been 7 years since we’d been to a game. Mr. Nine thought it would be fun to treat ourselves to first row seats behind the cage of the Cubs dugout. Wow, what a treat! You know a baseball game isn’t just about the baseball, it’s about the whole experience so we made sure we did it right!

You could say this was also our kids back to school depression buster. Lol.

All week it had looked like rain but we got lucky and despite some serious heat, by the 5th inning the sun was behind us. We were so ready for a ballpark dog. I only eat hot dogs 2, maybe 3 times a year so this was a treat.

And how fun to be sitting so close to the Players!
44 Tony Rizzo is my Favorite!

Another GREAT reason to be at this particular game was our beloved Notre Dame WBB got honored and recognized for their National Championship and Muffet McGraw lead the 7th inning singing of Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Side note, we were beside Muffet in her car when we were heading home yesterday. LOL

One big disappointment, Mr. Nine wanted his Cracker Jack but we were sad that they were in boxes and the prize you ask? A sticker for a digital experience! No no Cracker Jack, this is America’s pastime and I want a plastic toy I can actually play with.

So, in the 8th inning, Mr. Nine gets a text from a business colleague saying “Hey Bro, we’re at the Cubby Bear!” That is a well-known bar by the stadium. The cover band was incredible and with rounds on him, ummm Andrea got what happens about once or twice a DECADE: Inebriated. Yes, friends I said it, I did it and I am not proud of it.
Last picture I took until Mr. Nine told me to look on the hotel mirror the next morning.

I didn't dial 6615 but I should've, does that spell "Help?" LOL! Oh I needed it Saturday evening, Thank goodness, Mr. Nine took good care of me.

What SHOULD have happened was we would walk back as far as we could to town, get an Uber, rest, take showers and go do a photo shoot for the blog, have dinner and stroll around the city but......
Basically after tons of saltines and ibuprofen, I was in bed by 8pm, woke up to him asleep with his baseball cap still on. Took more ibuprofen and made it til morning. We are no young party goers anymore. Oh my. So Sunday was a take it easy by fueling up on egg whites, drinking lots of water, walking slowly around the city (Heat index was 102...whew!) and A afternoon snack of Shake shack fries and a vanilla malt!!

Not too bad for the "next day" for us Crazy Cubs Game Goers!!

How CUTE was this cool Linen dress for walking around the hot city.

Til Next time Chicago.....I'll only be consuming water, lol!

  11. Andrea! We live 10 blocks south of Wrigley!! You are here again and we don't meet! Makes me a little bit sad I'll be honest!! :-( I know that it's always a whirldwind for people when they come here but if you seriously ever want to /have time to meet up let me know. I would be happy to also just send you my phone number haha. Anyways! It is SO much nicer down in Wrigleyville now that they've done all of that work. Sorry that you didn't feel that great the next day. It happens to the best of the us!! That striped dress is super cute too!! Have a great Monday! :-)

  12. This looks like such a fun weekend in Chicago (besides the hung over part!). We were there one year ago today for college visits with our daughter. I loved that city so much! You guys sat so close at the game. What a treat! You guys looked so cute in your Cubs hats!! I'm sorry you had the hang over but it sounds like it was still a good weekend overall. We have a depression buster planned for when our daughter leaves for college too. Love that cute linen dress on you! Happy Monday!

  13. Ohhhhhhh was someone white girl wasted??? Hahahaha. You are like me, I just cant hang anymore. I am so jealous of your shake shack! Ours was WAY to crowded on Saturday, so we went elsewhere and will try again in another month or so when it calms down lol. Sounds like you guys had a fun weekend!

  17. Ha! Sounds like a blast! Like you, I don't let go very often, and if I accidentally do the recovery period is much longer now than in my younger days! And too bad about the cracker jacks, there should have at least been a tattoo or toy or something!

  18. I'm not a huge baseball fan but this makes me want to go to a big stadium & enjoy the atmosphere.
NOOOOOOO.... Cracker Jacks, you're killing me!!! That's so depressing that there's no toy in them anymore!!! That was the best part!!! That & the peanuts ;) but come on! I'm still trying to get over they dont have them in BOXES anymore. UGHGHGHGHGHGHG

  23. Fabulous post, Andrea, and fabulous day ... the night, not so much!
I went to Wrigley Field (and got the T shirt). And went to that bar after the game. And drank tequila slammers. And was amazed that girls do actually dance on the bar. And I felt like pretty bad the next day too! Hugs, x.

  24. Sounds like you had too much fun! LOL. Glad you survived and had the Mr to take such good care of you. You know I have NEVER been to a ball game.

  25. Front row seats are the best and I agree the overall experience makes it all exciting, this coming from a not-so-sports fan! I think we were about 10 up from the field and still amazing views. Oh girl it happens to the best of us! In fact when we went to the Cubs game a few years ago with Kate and her hubby, I got inebriated from lack of food. Only after did we get some hotdogs to sober up. xo Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis

  28. This was a fun post. Wow you were close enough to Tony to pop him on the bumbum.
I love a good hot dog and the ball park is where its at. You look darling in your Cubs gear and your “after” picture is just as cute. You don’t miss a beat.

  36. Isn't it fun to sit so close? It brings a whole new perspective to the game. Our friends have front row base line season tickets for the Mariner's which they share with us sometimes! I'm sorry that you didn't feel well the next day :) - it's been a while since I did that but I remember it well!

  37. Ok if I didn't love you two already I do even more now! You sure did this game right and what a treat with those seats. I love that this was a back to school buster and the way you ended the night, I'm sorry I had to giggle. Eric and I have been there and boy do we feel it so much more now. That hasn't happened in awhile but I think a good night out with a morning the next day, like what in the world happened, makes for some great memories as a couple. And yes, I love your comfy linen dress! Sierra Beautifully Candid

  38. Very cool. That is a beautiful stadium and one I would love to see a game at. I don't what I would do there-lol. I am so use to seeing games in the dump known as the Oakland Coliseum that I am used to seeing games in a crappy stadium.

  39. Sounds like so much fun!! We are trying to go to every MLB stadium (as of this fall we will have crossed off 9). I can't wait to get to a Cubs game one day!
