CURRENTLY.......

Why in tarnation have I never done a "Currently" post? Kinda fun and cough cough; warranted when your brain is like mush due to activity overload and you're lacking time, motivation or brilliance or all of the above. Yep, this girl is tired and ready for nothing on my brain except when a wonton mozzarella sick getting in my mouth, which martini to order, and "what time are we going down to the beach?" is the biggest decision of the day....coming soon.

Throwing a fit about:  People who don't say "hi" back. Especially at work. For years, I have worked for a large healthcare system..healthcare people, where compassion is a MUST!! For some reason, people just are not as friendly as they used to be. Hello's and smiles and camaraderie used to fill the halls, but the past couple years, many of my friendly hallway "hellos" have been completely ignored and people look straight ahead with no return smile for you. The sweet ladies in my office and I are constantly frustrated by it, but I think it is the general tone and turn our sad world has taken, I won't stop saying "hi" but shame on you if you cannot return the gesture!!

Reading: or rather I should say "getting ready to read" because let's face it with this being the busiest year of our lives, this lady was buried in adhesives, pictures and college forms, not in a book! However, my times are a changing and slowing down so the book of choice is Sleep Tight by Rachael Abbott. I got it for my mom and now it's my turn as she said it's great!!

Listening to: JT, I Can't Stop This Feeling.... Cole Swindell....Middle of a Memory, PitBull w/ Enrique Iglesias (he's soooo hot)...Messin' Around; and lots of old school country,

My boy, Cole Swindell, remember the retweet last summer? HERE

Thinking: That my husband is even more wonderful than I thought!!! As I've told you, college orientation was tough on this mama, plus I had a terrible summer cold but Mr. Nine kept me as calm as he could and went with the flow, getting me whatever I needed. Not gonna lie, after my son was off to his next destination, I got in the car and bawled my eyes out and told my Mr. there is no way I could've done it without him. Thinking I'm lucky and I'm grateful!!

Looking forward to: Going barefoot. In the title currently pic today, my awkward stance is due to leaning down to take off off sandals. I go barefoot as much as possible in the summer. Kickin off flip flops is an athletic event for me.

Drinking: Malibu and Pineapple Juice, vitamin water zero lemonade and water. Yep, literally rotated all 3 today.

Eating: Terra Vegetable chips and German Bologna and muenster cheese. I have always loved the terra chips and for some odd reason, like to eat them when I'm sitting in the sun. Since we live near Amish country, they have some great meat and cheese shops and their homemade German Bologna and muenster cheese are so scrumptious!!

Daydreaming about: Fireworks over the lake and family time.

Wanting: A blog-cation. The Blended Blog sisters and I have discussed this and it's not just me, it's not just you, but we bloggers are in need of a blog-cation, a break from technology, some old school, no social media chill time. Like I told some dear friends of mine...sometimes this technology crazed world is hurting us..there are lost moments, lost interactions and a fog that sweeps over us. I'll be taking a week off soon for the fog to clear....

My favorite spot is waiting for me where my head will be in a book or magazine...not an electronic device!

Feeling: Tired and nostalgic. Graduation season kicked my butt physical, mentally, financially and emotionally but I wouldn't change a thing. Everyday these last couple weeks I've thought about a moment I loved, the waves of pride sweeping over me or something that was done or said. One of my favorite things that was said by a son the day after his grad party melted my heart and put it all in perspective: We were reminiscing over the party and going through his cards. I said "I cannot believe so and so didn't come?" My son looked at me and said "Mom, it's ok, just the thought that we invited them is nice. It's the invite that counts." Thats when it hit me...I've done my job as a mom!!

Confused about: The World we live in. So much so that all most of us can say these days is "Why?" and when is it going to change for the better?

Patiently waiting for: Popcorn to get in my mouth and another episode of Prison Break! The binge watch of the summer for the Mr. And I and it is spectacular, like every episode packed with a twist. As soon as I finish this post, it's showtime!!

What are you currently eating/thinking/wishing/needing/etc.?

Hope you have a great Monday! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  2. Oooh! I haven't had Terra chips in a long time and I just LOVE those! I found myself nodding along to so much of this; barefooting it, Malibu and pineapple, taking a blog cation...

  3. You should come to Canada! We always say hi back! I used to drink Malibu and pineapple in college... I grew up in the Caribbean!

  6. I'm with you on people being rude--I hate it! Luckily, in my small town in the South, that doesn't happen very often! But I agree that I think it's the world we live in now, too. So sad! And you are the best mom ever! I know your boys appreciate everything you do for them!

  7. Love this post! I am so with you on the people being rude thing too. Like when you hold the door for someone they look right at you and don't say thank you. That is rude. Anyways... I just try to remember that there are good people left in the world. You are an amazing mom too! I also used to drink Malibu and pineapple all of the time in college haha. I hope that you had a nice weekend and have a lovely day today!! :-)

  9. I completely agree with you that a vacation from technology is needed at times. There is a fog that comes over you when you try to keep up! In a twisted way I start to get the idea that taking care of the blog is more important than real life! That's not good.

  10. A blogcation is sounding pretty nice. I really do enjoy doing it, but every once in a while it feels like a job instead of fun. I am glad you made it through orientation and hopefully things settle down soon!

  11. My husband and I feel the same way about people not saying "hi" back. It's a daily discussion here! It just amazes me that people can just pass right by you and say nothing back. I mean, what the heck?! Hope you had a great Father's Day with the fan, gorgeous!

  12. Fun post! I love adding vitamin water zero lemonade as a mixer for drinks (although not right now...). It's great with raspberry vodka too. I could eat meat, cheese, and crackers for dinner every night I think.

  13. Hope you're feeling better, and yay for Mr. Nine being an amazing support with all the craziness lately with graduation and orientations. That malibu and pineapple looks delish! And a blogcation sounds heavenly right now, I definitely need a good week or two to completely unplug from all things blogging and social media. Cheers to a fabulous week <3

  15. I go CRAZY about people not saying Hello in the halls. My friends and I were just talking about this at dinner on Friday night. We work with a bunch of male attorneys (I think there is seven of them) and only one of them says Hello. They literally pass by me all day long and they act like I don't exist except for one of them. It drives me batty. Oh girl, Malibu and Pineapple juice is my jam. I also love Malibu in diet coke!! Happy Monday Pretty Lady!

  23. Mmmmm Malibu!!! That sounds delish!
I hope you get a whole bunch of recovery time on the beach ASAP, gosh knows you've earned it lately!
I'm so glad you have such an awesome hubby supporting you through it all, it can make all the difference!

  24. People that don't say hi back bother me so much, too!! It's just a simple gesture but it can go a long way to make someones day. So glad your husband was there to support you during college orientation and with your summer cold! Woo hoo for fireworks over the lake so soon!

  25. Coffee and wine, indeed! Well, maybe Diet Coke and wine for me! Oh, girlie! This post left me laughing and wanting so desperately to give you a hug! I think a few days in the sand and that great book (that I've read, too!) will do wonders for your soul! Oh, and more of that Malibu Pineapple stuff too {I'm going at lunch to find that!!}! But I'll have to take your word on the balonga and cheese! Ha! Mr. Nine ROCKS! So glad he was able to be there for you through all this!

  26. Coffee and wine are the life lines! Haha! I have been listening to JT too! Love that song! I bet you are glad that grad season and orientations are over but now you have great memories to look back on. I love Terra chips!!! And meat and cheese trays never get old. ever!!! Hope you have a great week!

A+ for the son you raised so well, for making it through college orientation with Mr. 9's help. I worry about our world every.single.day. Heaven help us.

  30. Totally loved this post. You make me smile. Understandable that you're tired - you've done so much lately for your family! Great graduation party ideas by the way. I hope you can relax the rest of the week.

  31. This is a super fun post! I am glad you have your hubs there during this time - I remember all of the feelings I had when graduating, not to mention how my mom was! The beach is definitely what you need, and sometimes a little break from technology is needed. Get back to the basics!

  32. My mom and I were just talking about how rude people have become lately and that a little bit of kindness goes a long way. Really just say hi back or even a smile, it's not hard!

  34. I need to do one of these too, I think I did one way back when...hmmm...That hi things drives me nuts, just as when I am in the elevator at work, and am going up to the 10th floor, and someone gets on or off they don't say goodbye, like have a nice day, there is no elevator music, just awkward silence. You are doing a great job as a mom! The fact that your son said that, melts my heart...

  35. I love that 7 keys to life picture! I definitely second the blogcation as well. Being at the beach all last week really made me just want to take a break from technology as a whole and start focusing more on just living life again. I think we all need that more. Hoping you get to relax soon enough and get your toes in the sand! :)

  36. The people that don't say hi back...ugh, unfortunately I totally know what you're talking about! It's so sad and makes me wonder what's going on inside their heads. You've done more than a great job raising those boys-- isn't all the hard work so worth it?! A beach and a book sound so great-- I'm totally going to schedule a long weekend with no social media too. It's probably so freeing -- I am looking forward to it just writing about it. I hope your week is off to a great start and that you enjoy every moment of your well deserved break soon! Xo!

  37. Sleep Tight sounds looks like a really good thriller! No wonder it's a bestseller! And I'm totally with you on the obsessing over the new JT song! It's just so catchy and fun!

  38. I agree not returning a greeting is very rude just like when you hold a door open for someone and they don't bother to say thank you. Irks me! I hope you get your vacation soon...sounds like life has been busy so you deserve a break and some downtime. I had no clue there was a mixed malibu and pineapple drink...yumm!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I've gotta try that Malibu drink. That was my drink of choice in my 20s. Come on down to Texas...we still say a friendly hi around here! :)

  42. Ohh! That book looks really interesting! I'm flying through books this summer so I'll have to add that to my list. And they make Malibu and pineapple juice in cans together now!? I need to buy these!

  43. I have to weigh in on the "not saying hello." I agree! It is my pet peeve and I truly think it is because of the electronic age. People text, stalk, social media everything that they are forgetting the art of communication face-to-face. I'm with you - blog-cations are just important as our summer vacations. Unload, unwind and disconnect. Loved your post.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I LOVE this 'currently' post!! I too get so frustrated with people who don't say hello back... what about a smile?
I forgot how much I love Malibu and pineapple... I will need one very soon.

  45. This was fun! I love knowing what folks are currently up to . . . sometimes it's so similar and sometimes it's so different!!! And hello - pineapple and Malibu - a match made in summer heaven! Virtual hugs for all the grad stuff - it's hard on a mama to watch them grow up, even though of course that's our goal! Hey - take you a blogging break - sometimes stepping away makes you really miss it! And of course your faithful readers understand and will be here when you return!!

  46. You can buy malibu and pineapple in a can??!!!! Holy snap I might be in trouble. Sounds like you've got a great son on your hands..and rightly so with a mom like you. I'm really thinking I'm going to put the blog away aside from anything I pre-write for next week while I'm on vacation. I need it!

  48. I love these posts...they are some of my favorite to read! :) I seriously can't stand when people don't say 'hi' back either...I worked in a hospital for years and experienced the same thing. Some of the doctors were the worst. I'd love to hear how you like that book after you've read it! And Mr. Nine is a keeper, how sweet of him to keep you calm and take care of you while you were sick! And a blog-cation is always a must! I used to get anxiety about taking time off...but I've learned to go with the flow. I took some unexpected time off recently, but I would love a real vacation!

  50. Great list. It is hard when they go off to college...but honestly, the pain will eventually ease and you will watch them grow into awesome, mature people.

They hardly say 'hi' at all in New England. I came here from the Southwest where everyone says 'hi'. Sigh

  55. Ahhh I feel you on a blog vacation. I will be taking it easier both in July and August and will be spending more time vacationing for real. BTW, I love love Prison Break. By far ine of the best 5 TV Shows I have ever watched and let me tell you I have watched a ton. What season/episode are you on? They are currently taping a new 5th season sort of where are all the characters now and should be on TV by next year at the latest. I can hardly wait.

P.S. I love reading and doing currently posts myself so please keep them coming!
